Edurne Pasaban, the first woman to climb all 14 eight-thousander peaks in the world, will be this year’s speaker at the ever-popular Women of Sibos event.
This evening of informal networking, which is open to all, celebrates the importance of women’s leadership in the financial industry and the role of influential women throughout history.
Edurne will inspire the Sibos audience towards their own personal goals through her experiences as a record-breaking mountaineer. Be sure to join us to hear her fascinating stories, plus the perfect opportunity to reconnect with existing contacts and make new connections in a relaxed setting.
After starting hiking with her parents on trips to the Pyrenees, Edurne began ascending mountains of over 6,000 metres in Ecuador when she was 18. She travelled to the Himalayas for the first time in 1998 and reached the peak of Shisha Pangma in 2010 to become the first woman in the world to conquer the 14 ‘eight-thousanders’ on the planet. She is patron and founder of ‘Mountaineers for Himalayas by Edurne Pasaban’, a charity which focuses on the education of Himalayan children.
Edurne studied Technical Industrial Engineering at the University of the Basque Country, completed the ‘Senior Executive Program’ (SEP) at the ESADE Business School in Barcelona and obtained a Master’s in ‘Executive Coaching and Management’ from the IE Business School in Madrid. Her first job was as an engineer with the family business, Pasaban S.A., and she then went on to set up her own business, Abeletxe, now a venue for local events in the Basque Country.
The Women of Sibos event takes place in the Onyx lounge at Sibos 2022 Amsterdam at 17:00 CET on Wednesday 12 October and is sponsored by Accenture, BNP Paribas, DTCC and Publicis Sapient.
Use the ‘My List’ function to add the Women of Sibos event to your personal Sibos schedule, and check out the details of additional networking events during Sibos week in Amsterdam from 10-13 October.
